With the increasing burden placed on the NHS, insuring your health has become an important part of business protection. If you, or one of your employees, were to fall ill and needed time off work, there are different insurance policies available to help:
• Private Medical Insurance (PMI) – gives you faster access to treatment in a comfortable private medical setting
(includes overnight stays and post-op recovery). The faster you are seen for treatment, the quicker your recovery, and
the less impact this will have on your business – the same goes for your employees too. Often provided as an employee
benefit, Group PMI can be used as an incentive as part of an employee’s benefits package.
• Critical Illness – pays out a lump sum when someone is diagnosed with a serious life-threatening condition, such as cancer, a heart attack or stroke. If you’re not sure when you will return to work, you can use this money to pay your mortgage and household bills. Again, this can be included as part of your employees’ benefit package, but at the very least, we recommend business owners and director-shareholders consider this type of policy as part of their protection strategy.
